Wedding catering course plated for service

Top Knot Chef provides bespoke wedding catering across Hertfordshire, creating personalised menus and unforgettable dining experiences for your special day. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all packages – every wedding menu is designed around your vision, guest numbers and preferences. From intimate wedding breakfasts to larger celebrations, James and Amy work closely with every couple to ensure the food is every bit as memorable as the occasion itself.

Wedding catering covers everything from an intimate ceremony meal to a full wedding breakfast followed by evening food. As with all our work there are no set packages: the menu is designed around the two of you, the venue and the way you want the day to flow — plated courses, sharing tables, grazing and buffet spreads, or live fire and BBQ for a relaxed outdoor celebration.

Planning runs through the same steps as any booking — an initial enquiry, a conversation about the day, a bespoke menu proposal and quotation, then final timings, dietaries and service details closer to the date. Tasting sessions, guest dietary needs and timings on the day are all handled as part of that.

Most weddings we cater are in Hertfordshire and Essex, with regular work in Kent and The Cotswolds, and we travel further afield for larger weddings. Dry hire venues, marquees and homes are all workable — we will talk through the kitchen space and any equipment hire needed when we plan your menu.

Why book us in Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire questions, answered

Do you cover wedding venues across Hertfordshire?

Yes. We are based in Bishops Stortford, so east Hertfordshire is on our doorstep, and we cater weddings across the county — barns, marquees, village halls and private homes around Ware, Hertford, St Albans, Harpenden, Hitchin and Berkhamsted — as well as in Essex, Kent and The Cotswolds.

Can you cater a dry hire venue or a marquee?

Yes, and a lot of our wedding work is exactly that. We will talk through the kitchen space, power, water and access when we plan your menu, and arrange any hire equipment needed rather than leaving it to you.

Do you offer a tasting before we book?

Tasting sessions are arranged as part of planning, so the menu you sign off is the menu you have actually eaten. Dishes can be adjusted or swapped afterwards.

How much does wedding catering cost?

Every wedding menu is written from scratch, so we quote individually rather than publishing packages. The quotation covers the menu, service and travel, and is agreed with you in full before anything is confirmed.

Serving Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, The Cotswolds and further afield for larger events. More practical detail is on our FAQs, or see the full range of private catering services.

Tell us about your event

Private catering is enquiry only — we quote every event individually. Every field is optional; just leave us an email address or telephone number and we will be in touch.

Festive availability

We are fully committed for 24th–26th December 2026 and New Year. These dates are usually confirmed by March/April, so we are unable to take further 2026 festive bookings — if you are planning Christmas or New Year 2027, please do get in touch now.

Amy personally lives with a nut allergy, so careful planning around allergies matters to us. Please share full details so James and Amy can discuss what can safely and practically be accommodated. Although every reasonable precaution is taken, food is prepared in environments where allergens may be present, so a completely allergen-free environment cannot be guaranteed.
